The Variation of Population of Pinus koraiensis Sieb. et Zucc. in Mt. Jiri <Jour. Kor. For. Soc. 34:1-14 1977> Kang-Young Lee
These studies were carried out to know the variation of tree form, needle, cotyledon,
seed characters and height growth of seedlings in Pinus koraiensis S. et Z. populations in
Mt. Jiri, Korea. The results were summarized as follows:
1) It was observed that the characteristics of needle (length and serration density),
percentage of full seed, seed length, seed thickness, cotyledon length, cotyledon width,
numbers of the stomata row in cotyledons and the height growth of seedlings were
significantly different among individual trees and populations. 2) The characteristics of
branch angle, specific gravity of wood and resin canal number of cotyledon showed
significantly difference among populations. 3) It was found that number of stomata row,
seed width, seed weight, serration density of cotyledon, number of cotyledons showed
significant differences among individuals. 4) The resin canals of needle showed three
principal resin canals and no variation was observed among trees and populations. 5) Stem was straight in all populations. 6) Coefficient of variation for cotyledons showed higher
value than that of needles.
