Relationship between growth and development of Pinus koraiensis and characteristics and distribution patterns of adjacent broad-leaved tree species. Xiao Ma, Hailong Shen*, Peng Zhang , Ling Yang , Yang Liu.
1. When broad-leaved trees are located in the north and northeast of Korean pine, the growth of Korean pine under the forest is better. When the broadleaf tree is located in the east and southeast of the Korean pine, the growth of Korean pine is the worst.
2. When the open degree is 2 and the distance between the Korean pine and the broad-leaved tree is greater than 4.5 m, the annual growth of the Korean pine trees is significantly higher than the other distance of the same open degree.
3. When the open degree is >1.5 and the competitive intensity is <20, the pine under the forest will continue to increase the competitive pressure for a period of time, but the high growth and DBH growth are not affected.
Management suggestions:
1. When the age of Korean pine is less than 20, the opening degree is suitably set between 1.0 and 1.5. When the age of Korean pine is higher than 20, it is recommended to set the opening degree to 2.0 or above.
2. When planting Korean pine under the forest, the light in the east, southeast and southwest is more important. In these three directions, there should be no obscuration of large broad-leaved trees. In the north and northeast, the effect of broad-leaved trees on the light under the forest is small.
3. When the distance between Korean pine and adjacent broad-leaved trees is controlled at 4-7 m, it is not only beneficial to the growth of Korean pine under the forest, but also better utilizes the space under the forest.
4. When afforestation of Korean pine under the canopy, it is better to plant Korean pine in the micro-habitat of the upper layer of broad-leaved trees with smaller DBH and higher height under the branches.
